The Spiritual Side of Jazz

The University of Louisville School of Music will host the 31st African American Music Heritage Institute (AAMHI) on February 2–3, 2026, at the Belknap campus. The event honors African American musical history with concerts, clinics, lectures, and workshops for Kentuckiana K–12 students, UofL students, and the public.

Theme: the role of spirituality in jazz and how musicians convey hope, healing, and justice.

Signature event: Quartet Trio performing music of Dr. Todd Williams When: Monday, February 2, 7:30 PM

Where: Comstock Concert Hall, UofL School of Music Tickets: $20 adults, $10 ages 12+, free under 12 On sale from January 10; available on Eventbrite, by phone at (502) 852-6907, or at the door.

Other events: masterclasses for UofL students and presentations for School of Music and area public school students.
